The XL0401 Ideal Diode Module uses a dedicated control chip and low internal resistance MOSFET to accurately simulate the behavior of an ideal diode rectifier. By significantly reducing voltage drop during high-current operation, it delivers higher efficiency, lower heat generation, and improved power management performance compared to conventional diodes.

Unlike traditional rectifier diodes with a typical 0.7V voltage drop, the XL0401 minimizes energy loss and thermal stress, making it suitable for efficient rectification and backflow prevention applications.

Usage Precautions

  • The module must operate with a common ground; reverse polarity connection is not allowed without reverse protection

  • Cannot replace a freewheeling diode in switching power supplies, but can be used for output backflow prevention

  • Minimum measured voltage drop is approximately 53mV and will not reach zero at low current

  • As this is not a genuine diode, connect a large capacitor and a voltage-regulating diode at the output to prevent damage from extremely brief peak pulses

  • Avoid use where the input voltage difference is excessively high when shorting outputs between two boards

  • For microsecond-level voltage pulses, a slight input voltage rise may occur; testing shows a 10µs pulse at 26V input raises voltage by approximately 100–200mV
